Courtney Young

Hi! I’m Courtney Young, a Charleston, South Carolina native and the owner of Young Mermaids bridal!

I’ve been sewing since I was fourteen and have had years of hands on experience in the apparel industry since. I attended Auburn University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design in 2019 and completed internships in New Orleans and Charleston, both focused on high end formal wear. Those experiences shaped not only how I design, but how I care for each bride who walks through the door. After years of working out of a home studio, I was finally able to take Young Mermaids out of the garage and into a dedicated studio space, which has been a lifelong dream. I curated this studio after years of experience in the bridal industry, with the intention of creating a seamless process in what can often feel like a stressful experience. Every detail of the space and the process was designed to make brides feel comfortable, supported, and truly part of their own design experience!

I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by so many beautiful love stories in my life, but my own has been the root of what makes me love working in this industry. There is no Young Mermaids without my fiancé Alex. Through the growth of this studio and every season of this journey, he has been my constant support and greatest cheerleader. He has made me love love in a way that keeps me grounded and continually inspires why I feel so connected to designing for brides.

Choosing to work in bridal comes from the passion of creating for the big moments in a couples’ love story. Opening my own studio has been a long time dream, and I feel incredibly grateful to be here doing what I love!
